The founding commander of the SGC, Hammond was a wise and hardened military leader. He is willing to do whatever it takes to safeguard his people and his planet. He left the SGC to take part in the formation of the Homeworld Security, a position that Jack O'Neil would later inherit. He also spent some time commanding the Prometheus in Earth's Defense against Anubis' fleet.
